SANDBACH & DISTRICT U3A

The UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE (U3A) is an international organisation run on a volunteer basis offering learning, recreational and social activities for retired and semi-retired individuals.

Sandbach and District is your local branch.  We operate as a non-profit organisation and are open to anyone that meets the above criteria.

Membership is £6 per annum and our year runs from 1st September to 31st August. 

Details of our current range of activities, outings and social mornings are available to you.  Inevitably some of these activities are full but you can be put on a waiting list.   Activities, except where there is a growing skill requirement, are available afresh each September on a first come basis.  We are continually looking for new leaders to extend or augment our activity range.   Attendance at each activity costs between 50p and £2 per visit depending on the cost to us.   Three times a year you will receive a copy of U3A News from the U3A Trust delivered to your door.  We also publish a local newsletter and information sheets from time to time.

Committee members man an enquiry desk in Sandbach library every Wednesday morning from 10.00 a.m. to noon except for a few dates which are displayed on our notice board (situated on the ground floor at the back on the right hand side).

If you wish to join an activity mid-year, please visit Sandbach library to register your intention and to find if a place is available.   Outings and other special activities are advertised via group leaders, on the library notice board, and on this web site.  They may be booked at the library from the date specified.

A committee, which meets monthly, manages your U3A.  It is elected at an AGM held around October each year  Members are invited to get themselves nominated.

Copies of our Constitution are available from the library desk.  If you pay tax, we also try to claim Gift Aid on your subscription. Details are available from the library desk.

Finally comments and advice are always welcome via a Group Leader, a Committee Member or at the library desk.
