WENGEN, SWITZERLAND – 11th June 2012 (10 days)
I believe this holiday to be special – an adventure – staying in the lovely mountain village of Wengen, Switzerland.
Travelling from our local area, this 10 day break is by the latest super luxury coach, air conditioning, etc, through the Channel Tunnel with an over night stop at Reims on a bed and breakfast basis. Our very comfortable hotel in Wengen is reached by mountain train, as there are no cars or coaches in the village. It has a population of around 1,000 and is situated at the foot of the Eiger and Jungfrau, an ideal base for walking, suitable for all, with its fabulous views and wild flowers. The hotel is on the edge of the village and provides en-suite accommodation with a substantial buffet breakfast and a 5-course evening meal. Wonderful service.
There is plenty to do, from the simplest easy walks to more adventurous, lots of train journeys, cable cars and villages to explore. The choice will be yours, there will be no formal programme, but ideas are available and no doubt someone will be available to lead. There are lots of options – I promise it will be special. Coach trips will be available for those who do not wish to walk, with visits to places such as Interlaken, Grindlewald, Thun, Brienz, etc.
The holiday will be operated by David Palmer Coaches, exclusively for us, but to my specification. They provided a very similar holiday for me for another club during 2010.
